Having just turned 35, Lou Israel has announced to his team Fox River that he is ready for retirement, and willing to join the coaching staff in Isle of Man.
Israel once was considered a hot prospect for France, showing great promise both on the climbs (VG) and on the flats (VG), but whether due to mismanagement or his own failings, never quite reached the pinnacle of the sport. A top tier potential as a climbing option (200+) never panned out, and as a sprinter in the end just always restricted to the lead out train.
In the end, Israel became became a bit of a journeyman, starting with Astana Moonstar (currently in Division 1), TeamTVM (recently arrived in Division 1), and Glory Days (also Division 1), before closing out his career supporting Fox River's (4th division) flat race specialist Herman Kavanagh.
Israel's best finish was way back in Season 52, way down in Division 11, but in Season 56 he was an integral part of leading Kavanagh to a 1st place at Detroit Race City, finishing 20th himself.
Israel will close out his career in three races in a row, first Topar-Karabas, then Grandprix Skalbord, before finishing off with a special place in the Giro di Sicilia.

Best wishes to the man!

He was useful at some time in my team, and you are right, his starting potential was outstanding but he did not quite live up to the expectations ...
A shame, but at least you will gain a solid FR trainer.
